History and running in perfect settings
The race is based at the impressive Lamport Hall which was developed from a Tudor Manor and is
now best known for its classical frontage; this was started by John Webb in 1655 and completed in
the eighteenth century, to the design of Francis Smith of Warwick.
The race follows a 35 mile loop taking in some of the most interesting country houses and
historical sites in England and as well as Lamport includes Naseby, Althorp (home of the Spencer
family), Cottesbrooke, evidently the house Jane Austen used as the basis for Mansfield Park as
well some stunning countryside.
Where: Lamport Hall can be found just off the A508. Leave the A14 at Junction 2 of and head
south to Northampton For Directions click here.
When: 1st June, 2014. Registration from 07:00. Start 08:30.
Entry Fees: £39.00.
Parking: There is ample parking in the grounds of Lamport Hall near the start.
Course: The course takes a circular route on well way marked routes providing a very scenic 35
mile route. We have route data and checkpoint details available.
Time Limit: The time limit is 9 hours. Progressive cut off times exist at later CPs. See CP information.
Age Limit: Due to the strenuous physical demands of running 35 miles in one day the Northants Ultra is restricted to competitors over 18 only.
Team Trophy: The Northants Ultra Team trophy is awarded to the first team of 5 runners (including at least 1 female runner) to complete the full ultra distance course. The team trophy is calculated on the cumulative time for the 5 scoring runners.
Toilets: There are toilets to the side of the Hall, follow the path and there are sign posts making
the toilets easy to find.
Drinks & Refreshments: There are 5 Check Points, located at approximately 5-6 mile intevals.
Each will have water, Gu energy gels, Jelly babies and the famous Go Beyond fruit cake plus savouries
at CP3. Tea, coffee and cake is available for all athletes at the finish.
Massage: Sports massage will be available after the race.
Race Goodies: Medals and Technical Apparel are provided to all finishers.
