Thames Trot Ultra 50 - "The Boat Race"The UK's biggest 50 mile ultraSOLD OUT - contact guy@gobeyondchallenge.co.uk to be added to the wait list. A tranquil run along the Thames from Oxford to Henley. Ever changing scenery on the river and Red Kites frequently seen soaring overhead. One of the best way marked routes we have come across. This is great race to prepare for even bigger challenges, using the banks and towpaths of England's largest river as well as footpaths and bridleways we have created an Ultra distance course that will always keep you interested. Well stocked feed stations and enthusiastic support complete what promises to be a great day out. Where: The race start is at the Prince of Wales Pub in Iffley, for directions click here. When: Saturday 2nd February 2013. Registration from 07:00. Start 08:30. Parking: There is limited parking in Iffley, if you are driving to the start you will be directed to dedicated parking areas approximately half a mile away. Time Limit: The time limit is 11 hours. Progressive cut off times exist at later CPs. See CP information. Full CP Information. Course: The start is approximately 3 miles south of Oxford. From the pub there is a short jog down to Iffley lock and after crossing the river the route takes the towpath heading South. The run follows the course of the Thames to that other great rowing venue, Henley a short walk from the railway station which is good for car parking or transport back to Oxford. For route data & CP details click here. Toilets: Are available in the pub before the race including additional porta loos and in the band stand area at Henley close to the finish. Drinks & Refreshments: There are 5 Check Points, located at approximately 8-9 mile intevals. Each will have water, Gu energy gels, Jelly babies and the famous Go Beyond fruit cake plus savouries at CP3. Free tea, coffee and cake is available for all athletes at the finish. In addition Juice, Coffee, Tea and Bacon Rolls will be available for purchase at the pub. Race Goodies: Medals and Technical Apparel is provided to all finishers. Baggage Transfer: As part of the race logistics we will transfer a single competitor bag to the finish. Warm, dry clothes will be waiting for you along with our congratulations and free refreshments. Waymarkings: The Thames Trot is run predominantly off road following the clearly marked Thames Path. As with all Go Beyond Ultra events map books specific to the event will be available for collection at registration the download above is available prior to the race to aid course familiarisation. The route is generally well signed but you should not rely entirely on the waymarkers. Travelling by train: For anyone travelling by train there is a courtesy shuttle bus from Oxford train station which is usually very popular, Runners can park in the station car park provided they buy the return train ticket from the ticket office on the morning of the race. Overnight Accomodation: For anyone wanting to stay overnight before or after the race we have arranged a discounted rate for the weekend at The Hawkwell House Hotel, which is located 100 metres from the race HQ. When booking mention that you are entered for the Thames Trot to secure the discounted rate on single, double or family rooms. UTMB Qualification Race: Since the outset Thames Trot has been a qualifying race for Ultra- Trail du Mont-Blanc® a fact which we are quite proud of. The race counts 1 point towards qualification for the UMTB long course.
