Here is what some of our competitors have said about Go Beyond events.

January – Country to Capital 45

Ultra Thames Trot 5th February 2011

A 45 miler starting in Wendover, for the first 20 miles we are cross country using well marked footpaths and bridleways making our way to the capital via Chesham and Chorleywood. Once inside the M25 we pick up the Grand Union canal path and eventually into Little Venice providing a great mix of light orienteering and canal paths.

Thank you for organising a great race. It was only my second ultra and I thoroughly enjoyed the day.

I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed the race this past weekend. Visiting England for the first time, I thought the scenery of the run was absolutely incredible. Your staff were especially amazing and provided great support during the race. I had a wonderful experience (made a great friend during the run) and will definitely be travelling across the pond again to participate in GoBeyond's events.

Thank you for organising the race. It was my first ultra and I really enjoyed the experience, thanks in no small part to the great organisation and support from all the check point crews.
I hope to do another similar event in the future.

 February - Thames Trot 50

Ultra Thames Trot 5th February 2011

Using the banks and towpaths of England's largest river as well as footpaths and bridleways we have created an Ultra distance course that will always keep you interested. If you think in any way this is flat and featureless think again. Starting in Oxford the run follows the course of the Thames to that other great rowing venue, Henley where we finish on the green in front of the band stand.

Just a short note to thank you and the rest of the team for a fabulous day yesterday - we were, as you say, incredibly lucky with the weather, and the whole organisation was slick and seamless without being aggressively hold-your-hand-and-baby-you.  We all felt safe but not cherished, which is exactly as it should be
well done on the race organisation, although the weather was against us it made for a more challenging event, next year I will be back to have another go, once again well done to you, the Marshall's and everyone else associated with the race, the support was very much appreciated

"The Thames Trot was my first Ultra event with GoBeyond. It was a brilliant experience, I met a load of like-minded folk, the organisation was excellent with regular, well-stocked checkpoints. The course was a great choice, beautiful scenery and it was worth running just for the fruitcake! There was plenty of encouragement and support from everyone involved. If you are reading this and toying with the idea of entering a GoBeyond Ultra event, then stop pondering and just do it. You'll love it."

June - Northants Ultra (Shires and Spires)

The start and finish of the event is set in the grounds of the stunning Lamport Hall which was developed from a Tudor Manor and is now best known for its classical frontage.

 Northants Ultra

The event is a 34 mile loop taking in some of the most interesting country houses and historical sites in England and as well as Lamport includes Naseby, Althorp (home of the Spencer family), Cottesbrooke, ( the house Jane Austen used as the basis for Mansfield Park) and Kelmarsh Hall as well some stunning countryside.

What they said:-

I ran in the Northants Ultra on Sunday, my first Ultra! It was a superb event - deceptive course, effective "grown up" organisation and a most exhilirating experience. I never expected to finish strong and smiling, not to mention being so highly placed, and I have learned a huge amount about myself from the event & preparation for it.
Thanks again for creating an event that gives us a great opportunity to test ourselves

Thanks so much (for a great event).  I had such a good time I am already planning how to cut off time in order to beat the 8 hour mark!
I'll certainly be back to beat my PB!

Just a quick note to say thank you for organising a great run yesterday!  It was my first ultra and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The check points were well equipped (cake was delicious) and it was good to have the tea and snacks at the end. The countryside was beautiful and I liked the mix of road and off road. There was a good atmosphere too. A great day out!

June - Wellingborough Summer Off Road Races

Using the picturesque but challenging Irchester Country Park near Wellingborough we have created a great off road race for the summer, There is something for everyone with distances of 10, 20 and 30 kilometres over a 2k loop.

What they said:-

Thank you for putting on a great event.  It was my first time at a distance longer than half marathon and was not expecting the hills to be anything like that,  I thoroughly enjoyed myself and will be looking forward to the next one.

Thank you for a great run today.. it was fantastic ... and I can't wait for the next.

Just wanted to drop an email to say how much I enjoyed the race at Irchester yesterday. It was very well organised, great support all the way round and the camaraderie among participants was outstanding. Will definitely sign up for next year and seriously consider any Go Beyond events in the meantime!

September – Trans Britain

Trans Britain is our blue ribbon event and takes place between 11th and 17th September. This is a 156 mile, 6 day foot race starting in Scotland and finishing in Wales. What they said:-

The Castle Hotel in Ruthin was an excellent venue to have the celebration dinner with everyone having a great evening. It made the perfect end to a fantastic week, that couldn’t have been better, with all credit going to Steve and his team. The runners, the support crew, the food, the scenery, the route and, even the weather just slotted into place to make it one of the most memorable weeks of all our lives.

What a fabulous week! The toughest week I have ever had, but great fun too. Thanks to all involved for the opportunity to take part in such a great event.

Trans Britain was the toughest race I have ever experienced – both mentally and physically – but definitely the most enjoyable.

October - Brentwood Multi Mile

Mud and Mayhem Swinley Forest Duathlon

Following a successful first year in 2008 this well received event returned to the 2009 calendar. The format in Weald Country Park was the same with the multi mile course covering distances of 10k, Half Marathon and Full Marathon.

What they said:-

Thank you - it was my first half-marathon of any kind, and I really enjoyed the experience. The multi-mile format was surprisingly good and the organisation and support was faultless. Being a fell-runner I also enjoyed the hills :o) Please would you pass on my thanks to all those involved in the organisation and support of the event.

Thanks for organising such a great event. It was tough and my first real experience of running off road so I'm delighted that I could rise to the challenge and complete it.
Marshals were great and there was an excellent supply of drinks plus my saviour - jelly babies.

My first attempt at a marathon was in London in 2006 and it wasn't a good experience so I'm delighted to have had a second attempt in such beautiful surroundings.

can I just say what a very enjoyable race, the one mile loop was a very good choice and was a great challenge. I really enjoyed the run.
I will definately be back next year, and will spread the word locally to all my running pals.

I don't think you realise how all the extra thoughts that you put in make such a difference- your email re my entry, the fruit-cake, the choice in drinks, jelly babies and putting my poster up for me. Please pass on my gratitude to everyone involved. CONGRATULATIONS- IT WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!
